Some customers often ask the same or similar questions of us. This page lists the answers to these frequently asked questions and a few others that we think will help.

1. What is the difference between AIC Digital Home Telephone/iBuzz and my existing home phone service?
From a user standpoint, the difference is very little. The AIC Digital Home Telephone service allows you to utilize your existing high-speed Internet connection for the landline that provides basic telephone service at home. You may also take your AIC Digital Home Phone on the road with you to anywhere in the world and use it whenever there is Internet connection. AIC Digital Home Telephone offers far more features than your existing traditional phone service at a fraction of the cost. You could be making great savings and be doing a lot more with our service.

2. Who can benefit from using AIC Digital Home Telephone/iBuzz?
Practically everyone who has high-speed Internet connection can benefit from this service. Some examples are as follows:
  • Larger families can have the convenience of additional phone lines at a lower cost, or simply use it to replace their existing traditional phone service to save even more.
  • Frequent long distance caller can save by applying a telephone number with a specific area code outside of their home city. This allows them to make local calls between those cities.
  • Frequent business travelers or companies with offices worldwide can have the convenience of international phone service without roaming charges.

3. What do I need to run AIC Digital Home Telephone/iBuzz?
A high-speed internet connection (Cable or ADSL) and an AIC Digital Home Telephone Phone Adapter.

4. If I turn off my computer, will my AIC Digital Home Telephone/iBuzz service be affected?
No, it will not be affected at all. There is no connection between the AIC Digital Home Telephone Phone Adapter and your computer. Service will only be affected if your Internet connection has an outage. This tends to parallel traditional restraints on telephones such as power outages, poor weather, and downed lines so there is little difference between the two in this respect.

5. Can I use your service with a Dial-Up Internet Connection?
Dial up Internet will not have the quality required to enabling Digital Home Telephone service.

6. Can I transfer my existing telephone number to AIC Digital Home Telephone?
Yes, you can switch your existing landline or cell numbers to AIC Digital Home Telephone. However, there may be restriction in certain areas. During the signup process, AIC will provide you with this number portability option and will test your number to see if this service is available in your area.

7. What are the advantages of using a different area code?
Instead of a local telephone number, you can choose to have a telephone number with a different Canadian area code within the AIC Digital Home Telephone service area. By choosing a number with a different area code in Canada, all calls made to and received from that area code would be treated as local calls and not long distance. Therefore, if you live in Vancouver, but signup for a Toronto telephone number all calls to and from Toronto will be local. However, keep in mind all calls to Vancouver will now incur long distance rates. Your long distance expenses could be significantly reduced using this method if your calls are primarily to another city.

Not at all. Please see AIC Home Telephone Self Installation Guide.
